Sleeping Disciples
O JESUS, lonely while men sleep, for none with You their watch will keep;
You are alone, forsaken, this lonely path You've taken.
Abandonment the path You tread, to loneliness Your soul is wed,
You are alone, forsaken, this lonely path You've taken.
You knock, You plead and You implore, Your friends go with You now no more,
You are alone, forsaken, this lonely path You've taken.
Foreboding sore burns in Your heart, will none in pity take Your part?
That You no more be lonely, we'll take with You this pathway.
Your heart with love for us now burns, to be at one with us it yearns,
Yet still alone in sorrow You plough Your lonely furrow.
Lord, as I watch Your heart's blood flow, each drop a pang of pain or woe,
Help me to grasp Your sorrow, with You this path to follow.
